The glorious island of Antigua has 365 beaches to offer travelers and boasts near-perfect weather 365 days a year. Travelers booking flights to Antigua won’t be disappointed with this vacation — sun, sand and surf are the main island attractions. One of the largest ports in the Caribbean, Antigua welcomes travelers by boat as well as plane through its capital, St. John.
The lively capital city hub of St. John lures Antigua visitors seeking a good time. Take a trip around downtown and shop to your heart’s content before dining beachside at one of St. John’s restaurants. While most travelers visit Antigua for beach vacations, there are some interesting attractions for the history buff. The Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, housed in the colonial Court House (circa 1750), displays artifacts from the colonial period and from the earlier Arawak settlers who lived on the islands between 35 and 1100 AD. Leave the beach for a few minutes on the weekend and walk the farmer’s market in town, where locals sell crafts, food and jewelry to shoppers.
Antigua and Barbuda have a very pleasant climate ranging between the mid-70s in the winter and mid-80s in the summer. Humidity is low and daily showers are expected in the rainy season, which lasts only from mid-September to November. Be aware of the weather forecast during the hurricane season from June to September.
